Proposition of the air temperature as a variable in an indicators system of environmental quality

Environmental Quality is a polysemic concept of objective and subjective focus, subject to qualitative and quantitative interpretations. In the urbanistic legislation, it’s usually associated with the basic sanitation and the climatic elements are poorly mentioned in matter of law. It was proposed the use of the air temperature as a variable in an indicators system of environmental quality, applied to the urban area of Araçatuba city, state of São Paulo. It was aimed to verify the element dynamic by means of measurements made in nocturnal mobile transects. Considering the scenario of the interior region of the State of São Paulo, of occupational and economic expansion, the city has developed as urban landscapes without taking advantage of its ecologic and usage potential, which leads to environmental quality reduction. It was found that areas of higher tendency to warming have relation with low vegetation coverage and more people.

A Qualidade Ambiental é um conceito polissêmico de enfoques objetivo e subjetivo, passível de interpretação qualitativa e quantitativa. Na legislação urbanística é comumente associada ao saneamento básico e elementos climáticos são insuficientemente mencionados em matérias de lei. Propôs-se o uso da temperatura do ar como variável de um sistema de indicadores de qualidade ambiental, aplicada à área urbana de Araçatuba/SP. Buscou-se verificar a dinâmica do elemento, realizando-se transectos móveis noturnos. Na demanda do interior paulista pela expansão ocupacional e econômica, o município configurou-se por paisagens urbanas sem o aproveitamento de seu potencial de uso e ecológico, com suscetibilidade à queda da qualidade ambiental. Áreas com maior tendência ao aquecimento corresponderam àquelas de baixa cobertura vegetal arbórea e maior quantidade de pessoas.
